We, the farm, wish to provide you with fresh, local, seasonal food and you, the member, wish to receive a portion of our harvest. This agreement outlines our shared commitments to that relationship.
Section 1. Introducing Our CSA Farm
A. Becoming a Part of Our Farm
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between our farm and you as our customer. Rather than simply purchasing food, our customers become “members” of this CSA farm who receive a portion of the farm’s harvest.
Our Summer CSA runs for approximately 14 weeks-Late June to end of September. Our fall storage share runs for 14 weeks with deliveries as items become available. Members are responsible for showing up at drop-off site on designated pick-up dates to pick up your share of freshly harvested produce and goods. You will receive (1) share box per delivery generally containing between 8-15 items, with the possibility of more items during peak season(s). Detailed information regarding pick-up is discussed below in Section 3. Variety and quantity may vary as described below in Section 2.
B. Our Growing Practices
The farm is not currently organically certified, but we do follow organic procedures. Organic produce is grown without using conventional pesticides, fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge, bioengineering, or ionizing radiation. For more information about organic production please ask. We’d be happy to tell you more.
C. The Products We Expect for Season 2017
The chart below outlines some of the produce we hope to deliver and when you may see them in your share. This chart is based on our best estimate, but of course weather, pests, and other events can/will affect actual production.
Section 2. Our Shared Commitments
A. Sharing in the Risk of Crop Failure
If only a small portion of crops fail, we compensate for the failed crops by filling your share with other crops grown on the farm that are ready for harvest at that time. If a large portion of crops fail, we may not be able to deliver any product in some weeks.
While we will utilize the sources we have available to provide a share delivery through other local, sustainable farmers who did not experience the same harsh weather conditions. We will not be able to carry out this substitute fulfillment throughout the whole 2017 Summer Season delivery calendar.
B. Sharing in the Reward of Crop Surplus
In addition to our CSA, our farm sells to farmers markets and we will be selling produce directly off our farm. Although production is not segregated, our CSA receives priority. After filling our CSA share with the week’s harvest first, the remainder is sold to our other markets.
Section 3. Picking Up Shares
You are responsible for picking up your share on designated delivery dates from your drop-site.
You are responsible for observing our drop site rules, which are as follows:
Each member is allotted two wax boxes. Make sure you bring your box back each week so you can continue getting your produce in a box versus a paper bag. The boxes are expensive and to keep prices down we reuse and recycle our boxes. We collect and inventory the boxes after each delivery pick-up.
Pick up your share within the timeframe stated. Although we deliver high-quality produce to the site, it will decline quickly if not picked up in time.
Be respectful of our drop-site hosts’ property.
Follow additional rules posted at your drop site regarding parking, use of certain entrances, boxes, etc.
If you cannot pick-up your share, you must arrange for someone else to pick it up for you. You are responsible for explaining the pick-up location and procedures to your substitute. If you wish to change your drop-site, you must contact us at least one delivery prior to the next scheduled delivery to ensure we are able to communicate these changes to our delivery staff.
Please contact us via email at email@example.com or 320-460-0777. You must choose an active drop-site for the season in which you are participating. Shares that are not retrieved within the pick-up time will be donated to the drop-site host.
We take the safety of your food seriously. For your added protection, wash all produce before eating and put frozen products in the freezer as soon as possible.
Section 4. Member Fees
By selling membership in advance of the growing season, CSA reduces the burden of up-front costs for the farmer. Your membership fees provide us with money to purchase seed and equipment before the season starts, and we appreciate your commitment. The cost of your share is derived from the full cost to operate a sustainable farm. These costs include and are not limited to seed, equipment, fuel, labor, and insurance.
If you have elected to pay the membership fee in full, please enclose a check for your total amount due, made payable to Wolf Creek Farm 19998 200th St N. Ulen, MN 56585). Once your full check payment is received, your registration is considered complete.
If you are not paying in full at the time of registration, please enclose 1/3 of the share price as a down payment to hold your share (Non-refundable). Once your down-payment check is received, your registration is considered complete. However, if we do not receive future payments moving forward, your membership can be cancelled due to non-payment.
All payments are NON-REFUNDABLE once the elected share season begins. All shares must be paid in full before the date of the first share delivery.
